Published by the Department of Higher Education, the University Grants Commission and the All India Council for Technical Education, and reused under the Government Open Data Licence – India, which permits reuse with attribution. Copyright in the underlying material rests with the Government of India and the respective departments and institutions.

Every institution page that uses a Wikipedia photograph or description links back to the source article, as CC BY-SA requires. Institution names, crests and trademarks belong to the institutions themselves and appear here only to identify them.

How reliable is a field?

Not every field on an institution page carries the same weight, so the page tells you which is which rather than presenting everything as equally certain.

From the open dataset	Name, state, district, management, affiliation, year of establishment, website, and — where the source lists them — address, courses and sanctioned intake.
From other open sources	Photographs and descriptions from Wikipedia, figures from Wikidata, PIN codes from India Post, coordinates from OpenStreetMap. Each is verified against the institution's name and location before it is used, and discarded if it does not match.
Indicative	Programme profiles shown when the source lists no courses. These describe what institutions of that type and discipline typically offer — they are labelled as indicative and are not a prospectus.
Not on record	A dash. No open dataset publishes telephone numbers, email addresses, hostel, library, laboratory or accessibility details, so those are blank unless someone has entered them. A dash never means the institution lacks that thing.
